I only became a fan when the first movie was playing in theaters. I went to see it in November, unhappily, since a younger cousin had rented a theater for his birthday and cousins my age were going.

I originally wasn’t happy to be there but that quickly changed as I was hooked within the first few minutes. Later that month I received the first 2 books for my birthday.

After reading the first 2 books I purchased the other books available at the time, read them, and then bought the remaining books in the series as they became available. I still have the hardcover books on a bookshelf in my room. This box set was released as part of the 20th anniversary of the first book being released. I had wanted a boxed paperback set for a while but held off since I didn’t see anything that I “had to have” until now.

This set is very nice and should be a must for any Harry Potter fan. I did read reviews of other boxed sets and saw some negative comments saying that some books had duplicate pages or even chapters. I looked over what I received and I don’t see any of those problems in any of the 7 books. The only negative I have is that my copy of the 7th book has a slight gap between the cover and the first page where the glue wasn’t applied as it was at the bottom.

I’m not a big reader and I’m careful with my things so I don’t think there will be a problem with that area. What I like: -The books are a larger paperback size than what I have at home for other books from a different series.

What I’m not crazy about: -The box the books get stored in is made out of cardboard – not the most appealing way to store the books but the box looks great, is sturdy, and it should keep the books in good condition for years to come.

Beautiful covers and tough packaging. Bought these for my neices and nephews. I can read them but they are having trouble because the print on the pages. Several are blurry like this and book 1 currently in my neices possession has several pages with light spots down the middle and you can barely make out the words.

They keep bringing the books to us for help. Haven’t been into the other 4 books yet. I imagine they will be similar. Pages missing from page 28 to 77!

Great price, but it is all 7 books combined into one volume and one table of contents; which makes navigating to different books and chapters a bit more difficult than if they were 7 distinct books.

Books are printed incorrectly I’m missing about half of one of the books. Bought this for our youngest child back in November. She just started reading it a few days ago and we just found out that Book 1 Sorcerer’s Stone is missing 33 pages See Photo. Given how long its been since we bought the set, it’s not returnable. She is the first to read them.

I will say, the covers on the books are absolutely beautiful. It would be a really nice set with better quality control. Need to go through and see if the other books are missing pages.

Warner Bros. Harry Potter still has enormous value, as long as the creator manages to keep her options to herself. Additionally, the US printed more books in each run than the UK, even for the first couple of entries. Of the US books, only the first two had different versions that were printed.

The remainder was printed by Clays of London which printed all other UK editions. Hardback versions are preferred to paperbacks, while you can also keep an eye out for ex-library editions, which tend to be cheaper.

There are also special Celebratory Editions which were released with each movie , as well as Collectors Editions, often signed by Rowling. The former was given to reviewers in the UK before the release of the first three books.

There are roughly copies overall, and many were binned soon afterward. The Chamber of Secrets comes with a special dust-proof jacket. There are between 3, and 5, of each one, so they are much rarer than the trade version. Since the launch of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows , every book signed by Rowling at special events included a holographic sticker to authenticate the signature.

The sticker is an integral part of proving the authenticity of a signed edition, so make sure any books signed since then include a holographic sticker. Investment Rating: Strongest Buy Possible 4. The earlier you look, the more likely you are to pay a significant premium when looking at first editions in the Harry Potter series. With the prices involved, there are a number of fakes on the market, while many books are mis-sold as first edition copies when they were released in later months.

If you do plan to make a purchase, only do so from a reputable dealer. I have a 1st edition 1st print paperback philosophers stone copy in superb condition. Where and when should I sell?
